The windmill in West Street, still with its sails, but with the chimney of the engine house visible. The engine had been added so that milling could continue when there was insufficient wind to turn the sails. The mill continued to grind corn for miller Frank Simmons until just before the Second World War, when it was used as an observation post by the Home Guard.
